Wireless Internet Connection

Do you need Wireless internet connectivity for your laptop, Apple book and other computer types, plus wireless security to stop unauthorized people to leach your wireless internet and reducing your bandwidth of your internet, plus accessing your computer without your acknowledgment?

How do wireless networks work?

As the name suggests, wireless networks, sometimes called Wi-Fi, allow you to connect to the internet without relying on wires. If your home, office, airport, or even local coffee shop has a wireless connection, you can access the network from anywhere that is within that wireless area.

Wireless networks rely on radio waves rather than wires to connect computers to the internet. A transmitter, known as a wireless access point or gateway, is  wired  into an internet connection. This provides a "hot spot" that transmits the connectivity over radio waves. Hot-spots have identifying information, including an item called an SSID (service set identifier), that allow computers to locate them. Computers that have a wireless card and have permission to access the wireless frequency can take advantage of the network connection.

Internet Security Protection and Firewalls

How secure is your computer? As Internet usage has grown, so has the number of security threats. One way to protect yourself is to install a firewall, which keeps intruders from sneaking into your computer and accessing your private data. Firewalls also can alert you when unauthorized programs such as viruses and spy-ware attempt to transmit your sensitive information over the Internet. In particular, firewalls are crucial if you have the always-on Internet connection of DSL or a cable modem. Protect yourself and your family ... with the help from CT Computers!
